Growing Up

I grew up in a small town in Maryland, just outside Baltimore. I became obsessed with technology, space, and building stuff from an early age. I spent most of my childhood building Rube Goldberg machines, roller coaster models, and 3D Printers. I spent a lot of time exploring science and engineering on YouTube, with my favorite YouTuber being Mark Rober. I watched Mark create incredible contraptions, and learned of his background in engineering and his time at NASA. I one day decided that I would go to school to be an engineer to hopefully one day follow Mark’s footsteps and work at NASA.

Education

Since neither of my parents graduated college, and my high school had a very limited history of students going on to top universities, I had to turn to college rankings to influence my choice of where to apply. Stanford University quickly became an obvious choice due to the abundance of opportunities in the bay area, and the incredible education I would receive there. I earned a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 2022. My concentration was Product Realization.

Internships

In college I had two traditional internships- a Mechanical Engineering Internship on the Spacecraft Mechanical Engineering Team at NASA JPL, and a Mechanical Engineering Internship on the Sensors Team at Nuro. I also had a less traditional internship. One night in my freshman year at Stanford, I decided to send a thank you email to Mark Rober for inspiring me to become an engineer. Mark happened to see my email, we met, and soon I was working on monthly projects for his channel. I worked on everything from a robot that sets up dominoes to the world’s largest erlenmeyer flask for the world’s largest elephant toothpaste experiment.

Work

After graduation, I decided to take a job with Mark as the Head of Engineering for the Mark Rober YouTube Channel and Crunch Labs, as well as Head of Production for the channel. In this role, I led a team of engineers, designers, and producers to make videos for both the Mark Rober YouTube Channel and the Crunch Labs Channel. I have had the opportunity to produce a wide variety of videos, design and build various gadgets and robots, all while inspiring kids to be engineers. The 25+ videos I have produced have accumulated a total of just over one billion views, and our toy subscription box has quickly grown into one of the top subscription toy products.

Outside of Work

My passion for making things doesn’t stop after I leave work. I spend my free time 3D printing, watching other maker YouTubers, and planning my dream workshop. When I do find time away from making, I enjoy hiking, playing golf and tennis, and listening to music
